1980's Virtual DJ
Tom spent his high school years in Fort Walton Beach way back in the mid-to-late 1970's. One of his favorite things to do as a teen was to drive his 1969 Camaro around the Playground area with WNUE turned way up on his AM radio.
Tom is a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard, worked in the telecommunications industry in New Mexico for some time and then eventually became a freelance newspaper and magazine columnist with several hundred articles published over a 30-year time span and then he retired from freelancing.
These days, Tom and his wife Jill own a used bookstore on the Coastal Bend of Texas and having picked up writing once again, Tom now produces a podcast series based on short stories that he writes.
A Series of Crazy Conundrums - The Podcast can be heard here.
As well as on most major podcast streaming platforms such as iHeart, Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, & Google Podcasts.
In reality, Rusty Hook is an alter ego of Tom DiFrancesca III who bases the character on WKRP's Andy Travis and is basically the glue that holds the station together.
Whitey Sands is also an alter ego of Tom's, and this character is based on Les Nessman from WKRP.
Misty is our virtual DJ that was created for our Class of 1980-Something radio show.
We're currently working on a virtual "Wall of Fame" that will soon pay tribute to former WNUE personnel.
